Raised on the Land. Built for It.
Kyle Abbey grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio — the kind of place where open land is part of the identity. A graduate of Chagrin Falls High School, Kyle spent his childhood not on a couch, but on a seat. His grandmother owned a sprawling horse farm outside town, and by age 12, Kyle was already behind the controls — running tractors, dozers, excavators, and skid steers alongside his dad, who believed early on that the best thing you could do for a kid was put real tools in his hands and let him learn what he loved.
That lesson stuck. By 16, Kyle had turned that passion into a business — operating his own skid steer and taking on jobs for friends, neighbors, and family across the area. What started as a teenager helping people out became a reputation: if you had a land problem, you called Kyle.
He spent his teens and early twenties building on that foundation — literally. Kyle worked alongside his father on the construction of several homes, developing a deep understanding of what land needs to look like before a building can go up. He also spent years in landscaping, learning the difference between what grows back and what stays gone, and why it matters which equipment you use to clear it.
When it came to gravel driveways, Kyle saw the same problem everywhere in Geauga County: homeowners getting ripped off by contractors who dump a load of stone and call it "fixed" — while the potholes come back in two months because nobody addressed the drainage, the crown, or the base. That's why he started GravelBoss — to bring industrial-grade equipment and decades of expertise to a problem that most people treat as a band-aid job.
Today, Kyle brings over two decades of hands-on experience to every job. He's not a guy who learned gravel recovery in a classroom — he learned it on his grandmother's farm, on job sites with his dad, and in the field on every type of terrain Northeast Ohio can throw at him. When you hire GravelBoss, you're not hiring a service company. You're hiring the guy your neighbors have been calling for 20 years.
