What Affects Your Gravel Driveway
Repair Cost in Ohio?
Gravel driveway repair cost depends on length, width, slope, drainage, existing stone depth, and how badly water has damaged the surface. Simple maintenance can stay near the low end, while failed crowns, edge washouts, and fresh stone needs push the project into restoration or rebuild pricing.
Driveway Length
Longer driveways require more passes and material. Most residential driveways range from 100 to 500 feet.
Driveway Width
Standard single-lane driveways (10-12 ft) cost less than wide double-lane or turnaround areas (20+ ft).
Condition & Severity
A driveway with minor rutting costs less to restore than one with severe washouts, standing water, or years of neglect.
Slope & Grade
Hilly driveways require more precise grading work to manage water flow and prevent future erosion.
Drainage Needs
Some driveways need ditch line reshaping, culvert clearing, or crown restoration to solve water problems permanently.
Stone Condition
If your existing stone is still adequate, Drive Restore saves you thousands over adding new material unnecessarily.
Equipment Access
Tight turns, overhanging trees, or narrow gate entries may require additional maneuvering time.
Is Regrading Cheaper Than
Dumping More Gravel Every Year?
Yes, regrading is usually cheaper over time when the driveway still has usable stone. Repeated tailgate dumps cover the symptom, then wash, rut, or pothole again. Drive Restore corrects crown and drainage first, so existing gravel stays working instead of becoming another annual material bill.
How Much Does DriveGuard™
Cost Each Year?
DriveGuard is $295 to $395 per year for annual gravel driveway maintenance after restoration. The visit keeps small problems from becoming full repairs by checking drainage, correcting early ruts or potholes, tightening the surface, and giving you a clear report before the driveway declines.
- 7-point driveway inspection
- Full-width rake and leveling
- Pothole and rut correction
- Crown and grade verification
- Drainage check and ditch clearing
- Compaction pass
- Written report card with photos
What Should Homeowners Know Before
Pricing Gravel Driveway Repair?
The biggest pricing mistake is buying gravel before diagnosing why the driveway failed. A Grade Scan confirms whether you need maintenance, restoration, or a rebuild, then credits the diagnostic toward qualifying work. That keeps the estimate tied to the driveway's condition, not guesswork.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes. Drive Rake starts at approximately $650 plus a $300 setup fee. This covers equipment mobilization, travel, and ensures every job gets the full 5-implement treatment — not a quick pass with a box blade.
Do you charge by the hour?
No. Every GravelBoss project is quoted at a fixed price before work begins. Your price is based on driveway size, condition, and service tier — never on how long it takes. We show up, do the job right, and leave. No clock-watching.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and ACH bank transfers. A deposit is collected when you approve your proposal, with the balance due upon completion. Credit card payments include a 3% processing surcharge.
Can I get an estimate without a site visit?
Yes. Grade Scan uses imagery, property data, and LiDAR diagnostics to start your driveway assessment before a full fixed-price proposal is confirmed.
How Do You Know Your Price
Before We Show Up?
Start with a Grade Scan so GravelBoss can review the driveway condition before quoting the repair. You get a fast planning estimate, then a fixed-price recommendation tied to the actual grade, drainage, and surface needs instead of an open-ended hourly visit.
