How to Handle a Gravel Driveway in Northfield Center
If water stands in the tracks after every rain, give the drive a shape that sheds it. Silt ground with no slope won't move water sideways by itself, so the middle of the drive has to sit higher than the edges. On a county highway the Summit County Engineer sizes driveway pipes; on a state route, ODOT; on a township road, ask the township road department first. Ohio lets township trustees require a driveway culvert permit, and 811 comes before any digging. Pipe work is outside our contract, but we will tell you whether the road ditch can take the water. Snow runs about 55 to 65 inches here, and a drive that ices in January can still be soft in April.
