The Expansion Construction Process

Layout and dig-out: we mark the new area and remove the topsoil and organic matter down to firm subsoil.

Subgrade and fabric: we compact the subsoil and lay woven geotextile fabric so the mud stays out of the new stone.

Base stone: a layer of larger structural stone goes down and is compacted.
- 04
Base and top dressing: #304 aggregate base where the base needs building up, then #411 on top as the driving surface, graded to match the height and slope of your original driveway.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you just dump gravel over the grass?
No. Stone dumped over topsoil or grass sinks into the soft dirt and disappears. We dig down to firm ground first.
How deep do you excavate for a new parking pad?
It depends on the soil and what will park there (cars versus RVs or equipment). The proposal states the depth for your pad.
Should I use geotextile fabric?
For a brand-new area on soft ground, yes. Woven fabric keeps the subsoil and the clean stone separate, which helps keep the new stone from sinking into the mud.
